The Ha Noi Opera House will resound to the music of Beethoven today and tomorrow.
Pianist Tamura Hibiki will perform Piano Concerto No 4
under the baton of Austrian conductor Christoph Campestrini, who has
worked with more than 80 symphony orchestras around the world. The
concerto was composed in 1805-06 for solo piano and an orchestra
consisting of a flute, oboes, clarinets, horns, trumpets and strings.
It premiered in March 1807 at a private concert alongside the composer's fourth symphony.
Symphony No 4 and Leonore Overture No 3 will be also
be performed at the two-day event. Leonore (The Fidelio Overtures) is
Beethoven's only opera Fidelio, was first produced in Vienna in 1805.
The concert is one of a series of works by Beethoven
that have been performed by the Viet Nam National Symphony Orchestra
(VNSO) since the beginning of 2009.
The Beethoven series has been warmly received by classical music lovers in Ha Noi, Nguyen Tan, a member of VNSO, said.
Among Vietnamese stars performing at the concerts were
pianist Nguyen Bich Tra and conductor Le Phi Phi. Japanese musicians
Mukaiyama Tomoko and Suzuki Hidemi will also perform.
Campestrini has served as principal conductor at the
prestigious Essen Aalto Musiktheater and the Essen Philharmonic
Orchestra in Germany, where he has conducted more than 100 performances
by 15 different operas.
In Asia, Campestrini has worked with the Symphony
Orchestra of Taiwan, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and in Japan he
annually conducts at the Sakai City Opera Osaka.
This year will include his debut with the Hungarian
Radio Symphony Orchestra, Budapest, as well as his debut in Spain with
the Orquesta Sinfonica de Navarra.
Japanese pianist Tamura Hibiki will also perform. Born
in December 1986, after winning first prize at the Long-Thibaud
International Piano Competition in 2007, he was invited to perform
recitals in France, Germany, Italy, Egypt and China among other
countries.
His has also performed at the Mozarteum concert in Salzburg (1994) and with the Chamber Orchestra in Warsaw, Poland (1997).
