The world festival on goong in 2009 will be held in Gia Lai province on 8 – 11 of November, with attending of 30 goong troupes, in which including five troupes coming from ASEA.

The festival, with the aim to honour the space of gong in Gia Lai in particular and Highland Center in general, belongs to the activities of preservation and rehabilitation the values of human intangible heritage “Cultural space of goong in Highland Center”

The opening ceremony, held in Pleiku city at the spare named 17 of March, will reappear the history and developing of Gia Lai province as well as introduce the special characters of the Cultural space of goong in Highland Center.

At the festival, the special cultural activities of Highland Center such as the legend of genie sword, praying rain ceremony, killing buffalo ceremony, “Pothi” ceremony, goong performing, tune sounds of goong, conference on preservation of cultural space of goong in Highland Center will be taken place.
